If it is a B&M only, then how are we suppose to use the coupon codes?

Anyone know the answer to this? I also thought you couldn't use coupon codes at B&M.

Is it really "dead" or just not nearly as hot?

As long as the instant savings is for real (in the store) then it's :

$179 - $20 instant savings - $30 MIR = $129

Not a smoking-hot deal, but better than $179.

My guess is that you'd have to find it at another store for under $159 (which is Staples' $179 minus their instant rebate) to get Staples to PM. And as far as I know, none of the major retailers are carrying it for under $159. Pricewatch.com shows that there are some online places that have it for less, but Your Mileage will certainly vary on going that way.

but it does say In Store Savings. Does this mean you still cant use the coupons?

That's the one (that's linked at the beginning of this thread) the problem is that you can't order it online. Search staples.com for that part# (or Maxtor, or 120GB or whatever) you won't find this available to order. Therefore, you can use the online coupon codes. Therefore, you can't get this HD for $89.94

Don't forget the $20 Staples gift card with $150 purchase B&M.

So it works out to this.

$179 - $20 instant savings - $30 MIR - $20 GC = $109

Not super hot but not bad.

Harry - the "deal" is set-up as a Staples.com purchase, using online coupons and an online rebate form

- [Dana Carvey Bush voice] c-a-n-n-o-t do [/Dana Carvey Bush voice].

It's quite apparent this deal won't float, and most won't consider this a hot deal - at more than $1 per GB most consider this warm at best, especially since you can pick-up the Western Digital 80GB SE 8MB harrdrive for $79.99 this week.

What up with this gift card? Is that an automatic thing or is there some code or something we need to tell them when ordering?

Thanks

Remeber that most of these coupons start out as paper coupons which are posted to a forum somehwhere.

So, for those of us with the paper coupons, it still looks good. (I have a $20 off 150 coupon, which with the $20 gift check, $20 IR and $30 MIR still gets it at 89.94)

To get your paper ("real") coupons, sign up for email notifications and also sign up for the "business Rewards" program (like a "frequent flier club") I get coupons for 20/150 , 30/150, 10/40, etc. pretty frequently and have to let most expire. I have a 30/100 which just expired on Nov 2, for example.

Where can I subscribe to those?

Also, maybe people can start scanning in coupons. I'm told that some people have had success with printed out coupons.

So did anyone get on this deal ?

I got one yesterday for

$159.94
- $ 30.00 ($30 off $100 printed coupon)
- $ 30 MIR
= $ 99.94 Total

Could not find a $10 off $50 that would work.

If you can't do the deal then stop complaining and move on to the next deal.

I did get this deal to work, went in on sunday, brought a print out of online shopping cart with 10 off 50 and 30 off 100 coupons applied.
Sales guy just typed in the code numbers and the amount off for them too, make me wonder if there is any checking to see if they are valid, so I got it with 20 IR and 10+30 coupons off + tax so about ~130 with a 30 mail in rebate to send in.

They had 2 left and my friend and I got them both for that price.

I was actually kind of wondering if the guy would have let me use those codes on cheaper stuff as well but didn't think about it at the time.

If you're too lazy to update the obvious incorrect information in the first post - then why even post???? You're wasting everyone's time :disgust:

Agaricus & Bill00 and any newbies who don't know that the MysticMan doesn't post information that's not True. I have verified that you can stack the $10 off $50 Staples coupon that been flowing around for about a week with any other Staples coupon. (emphasis mine)

For those of you that would like the ***correct information*** on this deal (since the author of this thread has apparently abandoned it), please see my updated thread that includes the latest information, rebate links, and specific information on the $20 Gift Check program.

HOT -- Maxtor 120GB 7200 RPM Hard Drive $109.94 after rebates, possibly less (Staples - in-store ONLY)

Also, PLEASE participate in the online pole, to let others know how important keeping the Hot Deal up-to-date is to you !

I know I get tired of chasing Hot Deals that simply are not "do-able"....
