400 for a portable and 3 games ... wtf is wrong with me.

Stay away from bundle.
I'm going to get just the value pack if possible.
There is only one game I want to buy - Untold Legends.
If I can't get PSP during first shipment, I'll just buy the system only next time.

Yeah, I just got my email from EBGames for my bundle order(Value Pack plus 4 games/accessories). After tax and shipping, it comes out to $448(!!). They said I have 72 hours to reply back with my order or else they'll cancel it. I was planning on cancelling and just get the unit itself, not the bundle anyways.

I feel the same way...wtf am I spending so much money on this?

My thoughts exactly. PSP doesn't have any games that are good for pickup and go. The damn thing doesn't have a standby mode or anything! It sucks battery's in 3-4 hours (I know because my roommate has one) and the analog control is a damn joke. Considering the only game he has is Ridge Racer, analog is pretty damn important.

Last but not least, it gets VERY warm, my hands were sweating on it after 20 minutes of Ridge Racer, by which time I was pretty bored anyway so I guess the 'sweat-factor' works out with how long people will usually play it.

The screen is beautiful and the graphics are nice though. Unfortunately, since it doesn't have a screen protector (ala clam-shell SP and DS) his screen already has small scratches on it from just carrying it around in his bag.

Well, thats my review. I'll stick with my PS2 and SP...that is until Castlevania comes out for DS, cus then I'll be forced to buy one.

Once again, Nintendo capitolizes on quality games, not state-of-the-art hardware.

I heard PSP will have better games...

GameSpot has only reviewed ONE PSP game and it has scored higher than any of the 12+ DS games that has came out in the past 2-3months.
They have these pretty cool video reviews (scroll down to find)

(sorry for doublereply)

wtf is wrong with people with their system wars here? "DS is better" "PSP will kill it" go to gamespot forums! this is hot deals.

and double at those who bundle the systems. those retailers should be bombed. it sucks. these days you can never get a new launched system without a stupid bundle

Since no one has mentioned it... if you look @ the rebate form from Ecost you need to be a 'Special Platinum Member' in order to qualify for the $20 rebate.

Joining the 'Platinum Membership' costs an additional $30. :Q

Still a good price for the basic configuration PSP without the rebate.

i have the jap psp, and i love it. It's so damn impressive. my friend has a DS and now will get a PSP thanks to seeing mine. Yeah analog is a joke. You can't really use it, but the digital buttons works perfectly for ridge racer. Awesome screen. Just beautiful... And also, the buttons feel high quality, not like DS's. oh well i'm not gonna start a system wars, buy whatever you like, but let me tell you, i love my PSP

finbarqs: do you have a problem with the square button? (or the closes button to the LCD) i want to reserve mine but i not so sure if the US release have fixed that widespread problem

and the jap sony dude was unapologetic too and gave some nasty comments about it... im too lazy to find the link or his name but with an attitude like that, he might as well get fired.

gshock, when you push that button hard enough it causes the screen to 'tension' on that corner. it's not a big deal unless you have big fingers and use exponential force to push the button...

gamegear had the same problem with the A button through its years of service and nobody really complained about it. then again nobody really bought the gamegear, lol.

It's said that it was defect in less than 1% of the shipped units. They also claim it's been fixed. So, you'll get a better square button and slightly inferor screen compared to the Jap release.

One good thing about it being on Pre-order so long is I have had time to think about it. . I travel weekly for my job and I thought this might take the edge of the long flights, but the thought of spending 400$ has given me second thoughts. I think I'll stick to my GBA SP and Archos AV320 (100GB) for now. Maybe when they come up with more games, the unit drops in price and when the rumored 60GB version is released I'll think again. I'm spending too much for gadgets and that's partly AT Hot Deals forums fault!

Once again, Nintendo capitolizes on quality games, not state-of-the-art hardware.

Nintendo has simply been sitting on thier hands, not capitolizing on anything but their already existing player base. Their game pool is stagnant and their hardware is very proprietary, underpowered, and simply made for children.
