OOS?? is this something they email you after you order cause on the site it's still says ship same day

When you place it in your shopping cart it says under "In Stock" "No".
no cheap blue fans for me I'd go for the quad green ones if they were 3.99 too though.

To the person who cancelled his order, realistically it is something you can't count regardless of the place. At best you can REQUEST a cancellation. Most of these Internet order outfits have some kind of automatic system, and cancellations are disconnected from orders. One order is disconnected from another.

I would consider this a good place to order from if they had shipped exactly what I ordered. I got no reply to 6 emails in over a months time, and gave up trying. The order was not $3, it was $80 of different things, mostly fans and cables. I don't exactly think I was gipped, because the price was good. It wasn't quite so good with that one wrong item. I really don't think much of a place that does not make good on THEIR mistakes.

Had a few good experiences ordering from them and spoke highly of them just like many in this thread. Then they screwed up an order real bad
(Which had me waiting for 3 weeks) and their attitude was "well that's not our problem anymore". So I decided not to buy from them anymore
So good luck and hope there's nothing wrong with your order, otherwise you're in for a headache.

Do they have a storefront then? I.e. can you look at stuff before buying or just online order and hope you like it?

Thanks,

76c?
Thats hot enough to fry eggs on... better turn off that comp, and make sure you have the HSF seated right, try using paste, or apply it again, thats WAY TOO HOT.

I have ordered about 4 or 5 times from SVC, no problems ever... Thus the shameless plug for them at the top.

Yeah, I had an order messed up, and they fixed it, but after about 2 weeks.

38 ambient with 3 case fans? Seems like problem number 1. Do you live in warm climates? Air conditioning?
Problem number 2 is your HSF. What is it? I think SK-7 is an excellent heatsink, slightly worse than the SLK-800. Probably the 2 best HS on the market at that price from the reviews I've read. Plus, what sharky said above about making sure your HSF is seated.
Note: a solution to problem #2 is to get a new Tbred processor (1700-1800) if your MB accepts them. They run much much cooler... the 1700 is only 50 bucks shipped at newegg.

As far as running across the highway with a bag over your head... I think this is a bit more sarcasm than necessary. I don't think anyone was dogmatically saying that because their experiences were good, that they are guaranteeing that someone else's will be good also. Thus, I think it is good to see both positive and negative experiences with SVC, to get a fair picture of the company. It's clear that SVC has very very good prices and don't overcharge for shipping (IMHO). I think it is also clear that they are no Dell (or whomever you think is the best) at customer service, and that you are taking some chances (maybe more like getting hit by a bus- which does happen- I think there was sun one time in Seattle and the driver couldn't see ).

I've ordered a bunch of stuff from them (cables, fans, HSF) and never had a problem.

I'm just pissed that I bought some of those fans last week for $5.99 and now they are $3.99!

I am 3 for 3 with SVC. Ordered that Antec case w/ 300 watt p4 ps they had for 20 dollars, some rounded black cables, and some fans. Shipping is very reasonable and they shipped fast all three times. I will keep ordering from SVC. I was impressed with the Antec case, I think it was the 1600 model. Plain beige with 300 watt p4 ps.

Hey - it's a gamble that's all. If they have what you want & they ship it to you, it's a great deal. However, they will also cancel orders that they don't want to ship, not fix problems, and be dishonest about what they are doing. Nonetheless, SVC does have hot deals and you will be very satisfied if all goes well. I ordered many times from SVC and still look at their site for pricing comparisons. (don't order anymore after having some very interesting e-mail and voice contacts)

EXTREEEEEMLY disorganized company! I ONLY shop there when I can get a good price on something anymore. I've placed upwards of a dozen orders w/them, and of that, at least 6 of them have had an error! Just TRY to get them to answer their phone or Email....

I've gotten great service 3 of 3 times I've ordered from them. Sorry to hear some are not. I ordered the slk-800 for 29.00 last time, outstanding heatsink.

When I ordered it they had a page up on their site saying they were hiring people, they told me when I called they were going through re-organization.

The big thing you folks have to understand is that i paid less than 7$ for shipping. WHAT DO YOU EXPECT??? They arent making money on the shipping, so they're probably going to be a little slow, or have a problem or 2 with it.

You folks expect perfect service from every comppany on the internet. One guy on RRatings was like "they delayed my WHOLE order for a week because of a Backordered product... why couldnt they ship the rest of my order then ship the BOrdered thing later?"
Let me explain how a business works: You try to make a profit on each transaction. In an internet economy, price is king. If you charge too much for just one item, people just wont order it. They'll go elsewhere. If you overcharge on shipping, ditto; people will take their business elsewhere. SVC charges a VERY small markup on each item. They probably order the stuff direct from the Mfr's. They get a fan for 1.50 each in quantities of 1000. They charge 7.00. You'd think that's a profit of 5.50 each. NO... including website fees, personel, insurance, rent, internet fees, electricity, etc (overhead) that profit is probably around .50$. They aren't making much money on shipping, so... add maybe $.50 onto profit, but that is taken up by shippin mistakes like those described above.
Now, We have a (i assume) relatively small business. i've never been there, or called anyone there. I bet that there are less than 15 workers at SVC. Probably 10 full time. Assume they get 250 orders a day on weekdays, 500 on weekends... Avg. order amount: $40.00= $10,000 a day on weekdays, $20,000 a day on weekends. Assuming they make $.50 an order, the owner makes $877/week([250*7days*.5/order]+[500/day*2days*.5/order]) This assumes that EVERYTHING goes to plan.

Now, with this sale, their profit margin goes to 0 on a lot of items. However, the increased volume does mean that their workers are going to be working the same number of hours, but filling 10x the orders... most likely, SVC as a company will be making about the same money, and working a lot harder.

SO... in conclusion, to ship your backordered item, (cost: ~$4.00) it would cancel the profit of 8... 8! orders... it just makes sense to put your order on hold. Sorry. Its the cost of low prices.

haha, same here.

anyway. like I said, ymmv, the place has gotten a lot bigger since last year. I bet the AT effect has something to do with that, I've seen a lot of new faces there, so I'm thinking they are doing their best to accomedate the growing bussiness. I don't expect A+ service, but I do expect a glance, or even a hello when I walk through the door. not let me stand there for a min, not even give me a glance to see what I wanted. that's why I was upset.

anyway, still some of the best prices on the net, and I do mean best.

I had an unusual experience when ordering by credit card from SVC. I came up shot and they emailed me so I said I would send a check. My heatsink arrived way before they could have got my check so I emailed them and they said don't worry, we trust you!!

thats a bunch of horse s**t and any business person knows it.

you dont do your customers like that. if you tell a customer that his/her order is going out the same day, then by God you should send out his/her order that day.

but if you know that their order isnt going out until next week (or in my case OVER two weeks) then you should at least have the common courtesy of letting them know that. business is business no matter how you look at it and w/o customers, a business isnt crap and sooner or later that business' luck will run out.

you guys who are making excuses for these clowns kill me. you act like someone should have to spend "boo-koo" bucks on an order for them to actually get first class service. well, I for one will tell you thats a bunch of crap. respect is something thats earned, not given. and those idiots need to learn how to do people RIGHT especially when they know they've done people WRONG. ignoring e-mails from angry customers isnt going to make them go away. if anything else, its going to fuel the fire w/ people like myself who go out of my way to speak very BADLY of their piss-poor business practices.

yeah, I'm only one customer out of who knows how many people so I'm sure someone might say, "well Ozzie, who gives a ratt's a** what you think...."

yes, that might be true but when you have 500+ people just like myself, sooner or later its gonna come back to you. I guarantee it.

I've been in business now for over 8 years now and I know that when I let down a customer of mine that I do WHATEVER it takes to turn my wrong into a right. yeah, it might cost me a few bucks but at least I know that customer will be back and chances are will bring me a couple future customers as well.

and despite what you think, that IS how you do business the RIGHT way.

I hate to even mention my first order experience, as its still in process...

I placed my first order today (from work). When I checked my email at home after 8 PM CST tonight, I found a confirmation BUT ALSO an email that says they are out-of-stock for the one cable I added at the last minute BEFORE I finished placing the order (as it was cheaper than the "free" one from EPOX for $5 or $6). They sent the email at 8:19, I replied at 8:24, and followed up with a phone call five minutes later.

I talked to someone by the name of *$%#@&, or whatever since we had a difficult time communicating in English. He confirmed my choice and said the order would ship tomorrow...we will see.

I hope everyone checked the choices for shipping as there were Big differences in price for me in IL. A $24 order costs (at the lowest) $7.10 for shipping - and that was UPS, not USPS! I guess I am just hooked on that "free shipping" from the other Internet vendors...

Amazing how things change.
