Updated: Will Mac OS X.1, iPod, new iMac, and iPhoto convince you to buy a Mac?

According to Job's MacWorld Keynote, in 2001 40% of the customers who bought Mac product in their retail store never own a Mac before.

Are you convinced to buy one now? I think I am...

IMO, instead of replacing PC with Mac or visa versa, it's better to own both of them.

Charles, I'm thinking of pickone one of those new iBooks up in the future because I don't know anything about using a Mac and would like to at least know the basics. This purchase would come after I save up some cash to upgrade my current rig first.

Not a chance, with the release of Windows XP theres no reason to have a mac as a personal computer. Macs are better for office/school/lab/video editing. Other than that there just not ment to be personal computers, which is why PC=personal computer, am I rong?

I don't think so. A standard 'small factor' Pentium 4 PC with 256MB RDRAM and a 15" LCD cost more than 2000 bucks. The new iMac is 1799!

Do you honestly think aswedc was refering to an Intel machine?. Intel charges up the a$$ just as much as Apple dose.

I don't think totally converting to Mac is a good idea. In a perfect world you would have one AMD based PC, a new iMac and an iPod.

I'd love to have one, but they cost too much, and pack too little of a punch.
The iMac is out of the question with it's 15", thats just way too small, and it's not l9ike its very upgradeable.

The G4 towers are absurdly overpriced, for the price of one decently equipped 866 MHz G4, I can get 2 AthlonXP 1.53 GHz based computers with comparable configs, and guess which are gonna be faster?

Apple needs to lower their prices, current ones are pathetic.

They dont sell enough computers to lower there prices, if they did they'd be out of buisness, Its a wonder this compony hasent kicked yet.

Microsoft didn't bail them out. MS gave them a relatively small amount of money. Apple is still operating in the black, plus it has a large amount of money in the bank.

Sure, they aren't going to knock off MS, but they aren't trying to. They surely aren't going out of business tomorrow either.

Alright, from what everything I read the several million dollars Microsoft gave them bailed them out of some troubles. Steve Jobs bringing the iMac around helped in a big way. Anyhow, Im glad they arent in trouble, I want them to be around long enough to be able to pick up another Mac or two

I think that new iMac looks really good, but I wouldn't purchase it for myself. I would consider getting it for my wife, who like cute, well designed stuff. She would go nuts over that new iMac.
