My friend told me iView is a good image management program for Mac. Why don't you try to search for it @ Google.

I tested iView and it seemed OK, but a little complex in some ways.

And dont forget that they are supporting Open Source / Free Software (take your pick, I dont care what you call it ). Several of the Mac OS X/Darwin projects are getting help from Apple

I think Apple did the right thing with Mac OS X. Apple deserves more market share.

Hey Charles,
I am considering buying one for exactly those reasons iPod, iPhoto and OS X. I have been trying to find one to look at live in person to no avail. I wish they put a 17.4 LCD on there though.

Two questions
Anyone know what the real resolution is? I mean isn't thier advertised 1024x768 interpolated?
And What is this superdisk and whats the capacity for recording and how much is the media?

The new iMac is about as ugly as it can get. If I want a lamp I will buy a lamp and it will no doubt look better.

Ugly is ugly and as ugly as it can get . . .

i dont think the design itself its superior to anything else out there. i saw one today in the student store. the design is clean though. i played with the swiveling arm. its smooth. i was quite surprised by how smoothly it pivoted and rotated.

You mean the new iMac? No, it's a native 1024x768 resolution, and for the record the LCD screen is very good, it's even better than Apple Studio display. If you don't believe it go to Apple Store and see it yourself.

SuperDrive you mean? SuperDrive is an optical DVD-R/CD-RW writer. SuperDisk is a high capacity magnetic floppy drive (100MB?)

It may not matter, but the new iMac is attracting new potential customers. A couple of Mac hating friends have commented on how "neat" it looks.

One thing I would like to point out is that upgrading a Mac is not as expensive as people think. Sure you can't upgrade everything like you can an x86, but Macs hold their value. So, even if you do have to buy a new one for a full upgrade, you can sell the old one for a very high price because they don't depreciate anywhere near the rate an x86 system does. Plus, a Mac needs to be upgraded less often to stay competitive. When you deduct the resell value from the price of a new Mac and the longer time between upgrades, I doubt there would be a significant difference between upgrade costs.

I'd just like to add, that I really like Apple's latest offerings. The latest iBooks are a good value and are damn sexy. Same with the iPod. Although the iPod's 90 day warranty seems like a big gamble (Go read the apple forums). Apple in general needs to beef up their customer service and warranty coverage. 2 or 3 years on the pc's should be standard, and a 1 year warranty on a $400 mp3 player should be a no brainer, but then again this is "Apple." Not your typical computer company. They figure their customer's are going to upgrade to the next best thing in a year anyway.

I've been to one of the Apple stores near my house and played with all the stuff, the iPod is awesome so is the iBook and OS X is a vast improvment over OS 9. While OS X still needs some work it does seem like a great alternative to XP.

I'll always have a PC around, I recently put together a 2Ghz P4 and it's great, but I'm definitely considering an iBook and an iPod. Just trying to justify the cost and the gamble on the warranty If the iPod dies on day 91, it's $255 to Apple to get the thing fixed (bleh).

i havent seen too many apple's die on people. apple customer support is actually pretty good. i dont think anyone beats dell right now but apple is great. they send you a box to ship your product to them, they fix it, ship it back, and your warranty is extended from the date you receive it back again.
