Wii Tops 3 Million In Japan
Similar picture in US, with Nintendo holding 11 spots in the top 20 software chart.
In Canada, Nintendo holds 7 spots in the top 10 software chart.
Overall, Nintendo has almost closed the gap MS built with their year-long launch advantage.
Month after month, we hear about the Wii being a "fad", and month after month, the raw numbers prove its not.
June NPD numbers for North America should be out today, BTW. Expect another month of domination for Nintendo.
EDIT:
June 2007 NPD
DS 561,000
Wii 381,000
PSP 290,000
PS2 270,000
X360 198,000
GBA 113,000
PS3 98,000
What's Sony going to do with their rapidly expanding PS2 base? Tell developers to make PS2 titles instead?
The Wii sold just fewer than 110,000 during the last week, while DS sales have reached 18 million across the region, selling a total of 142,000 during the same week.
In an auspicious week for Nintendo, all software titles in the Japanese top ten belonged to either the Wii or DS, with Dragon Quest Swords for Wii at number one with 305,000 units sold.

Nintendo is on a roll in Canada. The Wii and Nintendo DS have turned the hardware sales each month into a two-horse race, with each of them often doubling up the sales of any other system on the market. June was no exception, according to retail sales figures the industry-tracking NPD Group released to GameSpot this week.

According to Pachter's forecast, Wii was the big next-generation winner in June with sales of 435,000 consoles sold. Next up is Microsoft's Xbox 360, subject of price cut rumors that never materialized, which sold 200,000 units. And pulling up in third, as usual, is Sony's PS3. PlayStation 3, according to Pachter, sold about 100,000 for the month.

The top-selling games largely belonged to Nintendo, too. Against IGN's recommendation, Wii owners continued to buy Mario Party 8, which pulled in another 426,000 in sales to become the month's best-selling game. Wii Play nabbed the second slot with 293,000. Pokemon Diamond and Pearl sucked in 288,000 and 214,000 new DS fans respectively and Xbox 360's Forza Motorsport 2 capped out the top five with 197,000 in sales.
