Updating A8N-SLI Drivers

I'm trying to update my chipset drivers on my A8N-SLI Deluxe. The File downloaded is a "MAkeDisk" file. I put in a floppy, format it, and click on the file which extracts all the files to the floppy. When I reboot.. just before the windows loading screen, I get "NTLDR is missing, press any key to restart." I tried making a Boot floppy too, got the same error. I just bought the floppys yesterday, and I tried a few of them. Any ideas?

I haven't owned this motherboard for several months, but I remember it being very easy to do the BIOS. I did a quick check of the asus USA website and there are a bunch of files for this model like "ASUS Update Install Program" and "Phoenix Award BIOS flash tool" and so on under the BIOS tools. I don't remember ever having to make a bootable floppy to do this. On my abit it's a different story though.

I've already updated the BIOS... this is different. These are the chipset drivers. Flashing the BIOS worked fine.

Better to install chipset drivers from the hard drive, not a floppy.
Try this since the other didn't work.

I'm guessing you're trying to update the BIOS and not the chipset drivers. The two are totally different things. Normally you would not update any type of "driver" via booting from a floppy since a driver is what tells Windows how to interact with a type of component.

If you're trying to actually update the drivers for say the Ethernet port, video, etc, then you're going to do it within Windows.

Um, yeah. If you're trying to update your chipset drivers, you download the executable from asus website and run it in windows like any other setup file. You're done in 2 minutes.

I don't get it. Here's what I'm trying to install:

Description ---- NVIDIA chipset drivers disk for Windows 2000, Windows XP/2003 32bit and Windows XP/2003 64bit.

The only way to do it is with a floppy because it checks for one. If you don't have a floppy in the drive it just says "Unable to get disk information. Volume: Unknown" If you put a floppy in you can click "Extract" and it will extract all the files to the floppy.

Edit: Also there are 2 different folders in the WinXP folder that I unzipped... "pataraid" and "sataraid". I tried both of them.

I was also wondering if this problem has anything to do with why my machine thinks my HD and Optical are removable drives? Pic of what I'm talking about. I didn't have this until I reformatted.

Plextor 712A is a regular IDE drive. I'm not sure why that is happening but I'd say it's some form of corruption maybe? I'd try re-installing Windows.

It's a SATA drive. And it was working fine before I reformatted.
