I've been using a Gigabyte GA-8iex motherboard with my P4 2.0A (overclocked to a very modest 2.2) for about eight months now, and the temperature monitor program that comes with it has given CPU temperatures of about 53°C idle and 63°C load (room temp is 25°C).
Just a few hours ago I flashed the motherboard BIOS to the latest version and now I'm getting 35°C idle, 47°C load.
So what's going on here? Was there a bug in the older BIOS giving wrong temperatures, or has a BIOS update really cooled the CPU? I really hope these new temps are correct and the newer BIOS doesn't have a bug - these current temps are so much better than the old ones.
