So here is my situation. I built a fairly capable machine a few years back and thus far it has performed like a beast. Since the release of the latest WoW xpac, I've notice system performance is down. I replaced the video card, increased the RAM, but still it seems it is coming down to my 2500k and/or my ASRock p67 extreme 4 gen 3 board.
What ultimately brought the idea of the upgrade though was when my onboard audio card went crazy. It began to say my front headphone jack was in use when it wasn't. I would plug in headphones and it would say it was not in use, but will still not play audio. Now no audio plays through onboard media and if enabled will not allow any other audio to be played(disable and using wireless headphones with audio drivers, etc works fine).
The wife has okay'd me to replace some things as sorta a late VDay gift to myself. I have a Fry's nearby and their weekly special is ok, however the board is not SLI, so if I want to use all my parts, I can't. Please advise... Info filled out below.... PS - The spare parts will be sold....wink wink.
1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing? Not much, streaming to Chromecast, Blizzard Games, web browsing, and Ventrilo
2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread? $250, less would be better...
3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from? US
4. IF you're buying parts OUTSIDE the US, please post a link to the vendor you'll be buying from... N/A
5. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc....
I'm a fanboy of the stuff I already have... LoL, not the company, literally just what is installed already.
6. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are....
PSU - TX650 or GS600
GPU - 960 GTX and 760 GTX
Case - Corsair 650D
RAM - Fury 16GB(1866 DDR3) and Corsair Vengeance 8gb (1333 DDR3)
HDD - 3 TB media drive - Seagate drive i pulled out of a portable/desktop hard disk
SSD - Crucial M5 120gb - it is aging, but has functioned properly since I took out my 560ti
7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
No OC planned
8. What resolution, not monitor size, will you be using?
27 inch 1080p
9. WHEN do you plan to build it?
Note that it is usually not cost or time effective to choose your build more than a month before you actually plan to be using it.
Tomorrow?
X. Do you need to purchase any software to go with the system, such as Windows or Blu Ray playback software?
I'm not sure, I might need to since it might be the cpu/mobo that I end up replacing. I'm not sure how lenient MS is currently with releasing a license key for an issue like this.
Thanks in advance for your help and guidance!
