Upgrade considerations

I am considering these upgrade components. Please post any suggestions.

1Ghz T-bird
Abit KT7 RAID
192MB SDRAM
Maxtor 15Gig 7200 (to RAID with IBM 10 gig 7200)

Old components:

Geforce DDR
SBlive value
3com NC
IBM 10Gig HD
Compucon Power Supply - will likely need replaced ----> Suggestions?

You would only get a 20 GB raid 0 drive.

Also maxtor dont work with the hotpoint controller(last I heard).


For raid you want both drive to be equal size and preferably equal brands. If not equalsizes then the total size it equal to the number of drives total * the size of the smallest drive.

# drives * smallest drive size = total raid 0 size.

2 * 10 Gb = 20 GB total.

yeah, some maxtor drives aren't good in a raid config.

if u raid the 15gb with the 10gb u problably lose ur extra 5gb, cause raidneed hadd to be the excact size (raid o writes & reads half data to one disk half to another, so one the 10gb would be filled than the raid just cant wirte data tot the 5xtra gb f the new disk)
