Upgrade CPU... Is it worth it?

I have Intel P4 2.6C processor. Do you think it's worth it to upgrade only processor let's say to p4 3.4. Or performance increase will be small?

I have Intel 875P board with 1Gb DDR memory.

Depends on what you're doing with it, and want to do with it. Do you surf, play games, rip movies, what? Also, what video card you have would be a factor in that decision as well.

Off the top, I'd say "not likely worth it" but anybody would need more info to really make a suggestion.

You'd be better off by getting an 865pe board and overclocking your 2.6c. My 2.8c does 3640 (260 fsb) on an msi board. Some 865 boards are down to $70, including the abit is7.

Overclocking would probably be a better idea than buying a 3.4.

Not worth it.

OC while keeping 1:1 mem ratio will definitely improve performance in encoding apps.

depending on what gfx card you have, either put the money in gfx card for better gameplay or not put money into that box anymore.

Why would he DOWNgrade to an 865PE when he as an 875P??

No if you were going to do anything just sell it and get an A64. Might even save money
