I wanna upgrade my monitor from my 5 year old aoc 1680×1050 monitor .
My budget is around 200$. I only do gaming and sometimes watch movies on my pc.
I don't play any online competitive games.

Rest of specs:
Amd fx 8320
R9 280x
8gb ram

Asus PB238Q $206 after rebate and shipping
IPS with height adjustable stand. Great picture quality, great viewing angles, great ergonomics, decent for non-competitive gaming.

A couple of LG monitors and one Acer are slightly cheaper in the height adjustable IPS category, but I think Asus is a safer bet.

That's a pretty nice find... but having used both 24" and 27" 1080p monitors, I actually prefer 24" pixel density, and would never trade height adjustability for the ability to have a little bit more screen size.

27-inch is great if you sit at a relaxed distance or don't have the vision. This is IPS with extremely low input lag. Motion blur is pretty good for an IPS, small bezel. Built in tin-can speakers there in emergencies. My biggest problem is the default colors need tweaking, but I still use it for IPS viewing angles + low input lag. It's semi-matte, and while I prefer my monitors glossy like lips, it isn't grainy like some IPS and colors are still good when tweaked.

I just picked up this Asus 23 inch , 1080p, 2ms monitor and it I use it for the same needs as you and its a good monitor at a great price.

Right now Newegg has a 20$ off promo code with a 20$ rebate bringing the price down to 120$AR. At this price I would definitely pick one up.

I like this suggestion. I have the VS239h, which I think is very similar except the GTG is 5ms, not 2. But this monitor is still sufficient for my gaming, and that one would be even better. The screen is nice and anti-reflective - I have a window behind me that barely reflects at all. My only complaint about it would have to be the stand - it's quite flimsy and easy to rock left and right without this computer supporting it on the left.

I moved from a 1050p to a 1080p 120Hz monitor few years ago (on my GTX580).
120Hz is really good, and should be within your budget, try to get one.

In the market for a 27" IPS panel myself, and I am getting educated quickly on things I never even gave a second thought to. I was fairly certain I wanted only a 1440p IPS panel (for gaming) and that was that.

Lehtv's point about pixel density now has me wanting to stop at the local Best Buy tonight (were it not for a snow storm hitting us) and view both a 27" 1080p and a 27" 1440p. I think my weakening eyes need the larger screen, but the text may end up being to small to go with the 1440p resolution.

I haven't cared about a quality panel since November 2008 when I bought my Soyo Topaz S 24" S-PVA panel. This time I want to give my eyes a bit of a break and go with a better than TN panel.
