Doesn't seem worth the money.
I think I'm going with a 6600GT since I've heard they kick the crap outta the 9800.
1) That's a 128-bit Radeon 9800 pro. Bascially a Radeon 9500 pro with a 9800 core, so performance should be like a Radeon 9700/pro.
2) The card he linked to is a 256MB 9600XT, which start at around $150. The VIVO versions cost more. However, if you really ned VIVO, I'd go with an All-in-wonder card for a few $$$ more. I'd also look for something better than a 9600XT if I wanted to upgrade.
3) The geforce 6600GT beats the 9800 pro in almost everything. It's more apparent at higher resolutions. It also beats the 9800XT in the majority of the test (reported from Xbit labs, for the PCI-E preview edition). Check Anantech front page for the XFX 6600GT, one that is available in AGP now. This will probably be a better upgrade than a 9600XT, however, since it is new, retailers are charging over MSRP (MSRP is $200, they are charging ~$225-240). I'd wait a few weeks until it hits MSRP, or even a little less.
