upgrade from x86 to x64 vista?

Guys i did a search on google and didn't find much. I am runing xp right now but want to upgrade to vista. I do not want to run x64 until the power pack for Windows Home server comes out because currently it doesn't work with the client software that WHS uses.

So i guess my question is can you do an upgrade from x86 vista to x64 vista or do you have to do a fresh install?

The answer is: going from x86 to x64 will require a "clean install" (i.e. no upgrade installation carrying over your files, settings, etc), but it will recognize the x86 installation as a perfectly valid upgrade (so buy an upgrade version of Vista, rather than a full or OEM one).

Best to do a fresh install, but you'll be able to use the same license key.

Any links about the software incompatibility with Vista x64?

Thanks i actually didn't make my question very clear. I was not worried if the "Upgrade version" of vista x64 would work since i already have both *full* versions but i was wanting to pop in the dvd to x86 and wanted it to give me an upgrade option rather than clean install. I guess i'm out of luck and will just wait for the power pack for WHS.
