Hello all,
I don't upgrade all that often, but I did have an upgrade itch, but I wanted to keep it under $700. This is what I ordered from Newegg:
Motherboard:
JETWAY J939GT3-PTD GF6100 Socket 939 w/SATAII, PCI-E
CPU:
AMD A64 X2 4200+ 2.2GHz Socket 939
Video PCI-E:
XFX Geforce 7600GT 256M GDDR3 128-Bit PCI-E
Memory:
1GB Corsair ValueSelect DDR 400
HDD:
Hitachi Deskstar 80GB 7200RPM SATAII (qty 2)
DVD:
NEC ND-3550A DVD+/-RW 16X
Power Supply:
ROSEWILL Dual-12V 400W ATX V2.2
Already have the OS.
All shipped for $668.10
What do you guys think? I'll be doing some gaming such as Halo, Jedi Academy, Jedi Outcast II, and Roller Coaster Tycoon3 just to name a few. Will be using other programs such as Office applications, PhotoShop, AutoCAD 2004, DVD Authority software, Audio Converting/Editing, Email, Web Surfing, and Video Converting/Editing. This system is replacing my ATI/AMD Home brew rig (see sig). I did consider a Conroe setup but they are just a little out of my price range. Do you see any capability issues?
Edit: This is my first Raid setup, I know I need to load my SATA drivers during the OS install but I have a couple other ???'s.
1. What do I set my jumpers to on my HDD's since I'm using a Raid 0 setup?
2. Which IDE slot do I use for my DVD drives #1 or #2?
