Question upgrade ram on older pc or wait to build new pc?

I have an older pc:
i5 2500k
8 GB RAM
Radeon R9 390
I have 2 SSD drives in it.

Would it make sense to add another 8 GB RAM right now for about $50-60 or just wait until I can afford to build a new PC?

Building a new one might take awhile as funds are not that great right now.

For the games I play, most run fine, but I think the extra memory would help a few that don't run as well.

Go ahead and add the RAM, it's not a waste nor overkill for a 2500K rig. (Hopefully, it's overclocked some.)

16GB is the sweet spot for "serious" gaming these days. 8GB should be relegated to "budget" gaming boxes.

Increasing RAM will definitely help[ to get a better gaming experience. Buy a 1x 8gb of RAM with 2400MHZ speed (if your mobo support it). So you can use that RAM in your future build

He's using DDR3 in his machine. Right now DDR4 is mainstream. He won't be using the ram in his next build.
