Upgrade Time! Advice?

ok i'm getting money and Newegg gift certificates for Christmas....just some advice on what i'm getting and if it will work together good, also if it will work good with the part i all ready have...i'm getting a new CPU, MB and Video Card...here's what i'm looking at:

Now...any suggestions? Especially when it comes to the MB and CPU..i'm going with that Video Card no doubt.....any issues seen?

Looks fine to me, but if you're not planning on using the SLI, buy yourself a mobo with the nForce4 Ultra schipset... EPox, MSI, Asus, Abit, GigaByte etc. are decent brands... If you care for serious overclocking, EPoX is the one you should be picking, it offers the same overclockability as any DFI, but comes without the incompatibility issues...

GPU is a monster, so that won't be hindering you whilst gaming If you could afford it, an extra GB of RAM would improve with regards to the future... If not, no big deal... Do keep in mind that it's better (and handier) to work wih 2x1GB sticks instead of 4x512MB ones...

The rest looks very good, the PSU and cooler are powerful enough, but I wouldn't expect on seeing a massive improvement... Your previous system was already pretty high-end as well...

i'm not looking to overclock.

i've also now thinking about maybe just going single core and get some extra ram instead..not sure though...or maybe going with a GTX with the extra money.

i want a 939 chip and eventually SLI...so i'm going for it now while i have the money available.

If you are "upgrading for the future", getting the X2 would be the best choice. No point getting a single core Opteron that really wouldn't be that much different than your A64.

That system will still hold out for a relatively long time IMO... If you can wait some more, save your money, and see what Socket AM2 brings... Then you can decide what to do...
