Classmates I had problems due to my browser set up to block cookies.

Regular sign-up is free. But, pay $29.95 for a Gold member annual membership and get a $50.00 gas bonus. Supposely good at Exxon, Mobil, Hess, and Texaco. Also one can also get 50% off a night at certain major hotels.

I welcome comments from anyone who know more about this offer.

Bump for a decent deal, I think I'll sign up for this as my 10 year reunuin (class of 1992) is coming up next summer.

I'll just think of it as $20 free gas after factoring in the $30 Classmates membership upgrade.

Sounds good to me, $20 of gas after factoring the $30 membership, however the extra benefits do help. Nice find

Has anyone received the gas credit? Maybe you don't get it until ther 3 months are up. If you don't cancel before then they will hit you for another 50.
Not sure I trust this one.

I've done one of these $50 of free gas deals it is a big hassle. Its a rebate type arrangement. First they send you a certificate that you send back with a SASE to request another certificate. Then you fill out and send in the second certificate with a SASE and they send you back 4 rebate forms. Each rebate form is good for $12.50. They have a bunch of rules that can trip you up and the rebates are only good for particular months spread over the next year. Each one has to be sent in the correct month within a week of the purchase with another SASE. It works but they make you work for it.

I'm glad Popup came around and gave details on this offer. S***, too many steps and chances for screwups. Geekender mentions that there is an automatic renewel on the plan. I guess try a one time usage credit card and then wait to be hound by classmate.com through your email.

Thanks to anandtech users for their info. My comment now is buyer beware on the offer.

OK, I've tried to find the info on the "bonus" offer, but have been unsuccessful. Geekender's post mentions a "trial period" after which time a $49.95 annual fee will be charged to your card. What is the trial period ... 30 days, 90 days, a year? These trial periods are normally short so that you end up paying the annual fee to get the rebates.

I agree, way too much hassle for just $20 of free gas. They make it sound like you receive a free $50 debit card and it's as easy as pie, I guess not.

Can someone who has a classmates membership please look up Michael Venegas from Arvada West High School (1986-1989) and drop him an e-mail that I'd like to get in touch with him, or e-mail me his address?

My full name: Jeffrey Call
My e-mail: jcall@cugrad.com

Thanks much!

<< with gas prices so low, it seems to be too much of a hassle even for $20 or $30 worth of free gas. >>

What do gas prices have to do with the value of $20 worth of gas? If anything, it's worth more now since you get more gas than you would otherwise.

What I wonder if whether this is even a special deal at all. This sounds like something that anyone can get from these people, maybe for a $1 trial membership fee.

OOF. Sounds like a good find but I quit signing up for these free trials that automatically start billing your card after three months if you don't jump through their cancellation hoops.
