Upgrade?

Hey all..I have an aged Dell with an i7-920. I have recently started buying components for a new build. My problem lies in the fact of whether i should just go with a Sandy Bridge i7-2600k or use my old 920 and just buy a new motherboard. Money is no issue and I would probably upgrade again when ivy bridge comes out. Does it make more sense to just use the 920 or would I be better served going 2600k? I do plan to OC which ever direction I go and do game occasionally. Thanx in advance.

why would you butcher a pre built pc? just sell the complete pc and build a new one from scratch.

Here I'm wondering whether its worthwhile to upgrade from Core 2 to SB and you're asking if you should upgrade from an "aged Dell with an i7-920"??

Aged meaning the desktop is having motherboard issues. So I figured now is a good time to build one.

Reinstall windows.

or else keep the 920 with a new MB and then build from scratch with 2011 "Enthusiast" release..

If your mobo is having issues its not do to age lol, but to each their own. You may want to wait for more benchmarks and reviews/analysis before jumping the gun, otherwise just go for it if you have money to burn

Just replace the mobo & possibily the PSU and wait until LGA 2011 or Ivy Bridge.
