Ok, So I picked up a SSD to install Windows 7 Premium on. Here are the steps I took....

All steps before removing old HD.
Installed SSD into hot swap bay / Installed Seagate 2TB drive
Powered up
Booted from rom
Installed Windows 7
Installed "everything" else that was required

PC ran fine.

Started downloading Windows Updates. Finished those and installed ......
Seagate drive does "not" show in Windows
Went to disc manager.......although it showed there...I could not delete the partiton to use the drive as one "big" drive. The format option was also grayed out.
I also tried a 3rd party partition program to no success. Same thing happens

THEN.......some reason, the Seagate drive "showed" in Windows. BUT...when I rebooted, everything was fine, it went to the Windows loading screen, then it stated "windows is loading files"

It was stuck in that loop. Could not restore due to no restore set....Repair did not work....

Needless to say, after 3 hours of that...I removed the Seagate 2TB drive, and installed Windows to the SSD. And now I am here on Anand.

But, What must I do, to get the Seagate drive to be recognized, and able to access it from within Windows. ?

Almost seems like my PC does "not" want to run two hard drives.

If any more info is needed, just say so.

EDIT: For about 20 minutes, when I "thought" it was fine....it would half boot and pop up a message on a black screen that states................Please reboot and select a proper drive. Or something to that extent.

Was win7 installed on the seagate drive already? If so, it was probably having problems figuring out which drive to boot from and something got screwed up during the new install.

Either way, win7 often likes to install itself onto multiple drives if they're available. One problem with this is that if that second drive dies, windows freaks out and needs a repair. My standard now is to install win7 with only one drive plugged into the motherboard.

I would try installing/plugging in the seagate 2tb now and formatting it via windows disk management or 3rd party program.

No, the Seagate drive is new. I just purchased it yesterday at MicroCenter in Virginia.

I did try to install the Seagate "after" the SSD was installed...and Windows put on it. And that is when it would load "windows files" and give me the message of......Restart and select a proper drive. Or something like that.

I also read it is smart to remove all thumbdrives. so I did that as well.

So, as a recap, you did a clean install of the OS on the SSD, and you had the seagate hooked up at that time.
The Seagate is a new drive, so, it should have had nothing on it.
What exactly does Disk Management show, can you post a pic?

Normally, it should have be unformatted, or a NTFS volume, and you should be able to format it, and then assign it a drive letter so you can access it.

I've experienced the exact same behaviour on a system which had a malfunctioning PSU, I would disconnect the SSD if I were you because in my case I managed to brick 2 SSDs before I discovered the issue and switched to a new PSU. Luckily, Kingston was kind enough to replace them for free after explaining to them that the SSD's firmware was simply bricked and no physical damage was involved.

Take care.

This would be my set of milestones and procedures:

Make sure the drive appears in the generally exposed and ubiquitous menu of SATA storage devices in the BIOS.

Run the Seagate diagnostic program on the disk if it can be accessed through a PE bootable CD.

Try the drive in a different system.

Then, someone mentioned the PSU, and I am almost baffled that this could happen. But who am I to doubt the poster? I was just so driven to get additional output wattage with a Seasonic Titanium when I could afford it. My PSUs in the last five years have only died through inadvertent abuse.

Just curious, but which model 2TB Seagate? I have been using Seagates a lot lately, with a couple of HGST's. And experimenting with 2.5" [laptop drive] desktop-PC configurations. I've had no trouble.

It is possible this sort of thing includes some BIOS misconfiguration as one in as many causes, I can't remember for sure. Is the drive allowed to enter its own sleep state in windows?
