Upgrading a 500MHZ laptop CPU to 933MHZ cpu

Hey guys, well i just wanted to know if its possible to upgraded some laptops that are around 500mhz to a 933MHZ cpu. If so, i would like to know the brand name and model #. I'm hoping to get a laptop cheap because of the CPU speed, but then upgrading the CPU to a 933MHZ that i have.

Any help is appreciated!

If you have a 500MHz lappy, the most likely no. You're probably using the m440BX/MX chipset which only supports the 100MHz FSB. However, P3 1GHz mPGA2 P3 chips are available (probably a tad rare). Also, keep in mind that the 950/1GHz 100FSB mPGA P3s (Not the newer P3M models) tend to suck up a lot of power. If you're using a Celeron... well... kinda depends.

Woud there be any cheap laptop that i would be able to upgrade the CPU on? Ok is there any laptops that you may upgrade the cpu on?

Wouldn't heat be an issue, even if the laptop motherboard could support an upgrade of that scale?

No, it's not possible. I looked into this about a year ago, upgrading my P-3 500 to something higher. Intel changed the notebook CPU form factor at about the 700 MHz level. The new CPU module is just physically the wrong size and has the wrong electrical pins to fit. I bought a 900 MHz laptop CPU to try, but, NO WAY. It's like trying to put a P4 into a socket 7. BTW, I have an ARM laptop, the same model that Dell rebranded as a Dimension back in 2000 when I bought it.
