OP even though have made the purchase I think you would have been better served by a 470 4GB. It would have served you well at 1080p. Rx 470 4GB is very close to GTX 1060 3GB in the latest titles and has 4GB VRAM which i would recommend as the minimum VRAM for 1080p gaming.

Given your CPU upgrade in the near future and the way you seem to upgrade infrequently I'd make this one count. RX 470.

My PSU only has a 6-pin power connection. The 470 cards listed are 8-pin.

Going for the Zotac 1050 (gives me a 5 year warranty too).

Kind of disappointed by this.. I know I can get an adapter but I guess this the universe telling me to stick to my budget and get the 1050 or 460.

Thank you very much everyone, I was definitely going for the rx 460 because of all gimping rumors and I am also AMD fan but I think I will get the 1050 instead after listening to everyone recommend it.

By the way, AMD has Frame Rate Target Control that helps reduce power consumption and heat while playing old games, does Nvidia have a similar feature? Googling only shows an software by EVGA called Precision X and a feature called 'Adaptive Sync'.

The Nitro/+ 470 is 8 pin but works with only 6 pin.

Source: Im looking right now at my nitro+ 470 at 1300/1125v with only a 6 pin conector plugged in and it works under load just fine.

OP has already made his decision. He bought 1050 2gb for $140 when 1050Ti 4GB was available for $175. Bad choice i would say.

Yeah that 1050 Ti would last a lot longer for not much more.
