Upgrading HP pavillion

The power supply went out on this machine: HP pavillion 8766C. I was going to replace it with the same PS but it's 80$: 185 watt power supply (Chewbaka Plus, Delta DPS-160GB B) - 100-127VAC and 200-240VAC input (switch selectable), 43-66Hz - Total of 9 output connectors (Asia Pacific)

Anyone know of a compatible PS that is cheaper? Whlie I have it all apart, would it be wise to get a better processor and vid card, or is it not worth it for this pile:

Intel Pentium (R) III 900 MHz processor (socket 370, 100 MHz)
Maximum HP supported upgrade: Intel PIII 1 GHz

Keep in mind I've remodeled tons of houses but only one computer in my life. Thanks for any advice!!!!!

I don't know where to look for that. If you mean does the PS cool the MOBO also, I don't think so. How can I tell? I don't see anything in the specs about that.

No to the processor (900 to 1,000 is not worth the cost or effort)

Maybe to the video card, but you don't say what card you have now or what you use the machine for. Or whether the system has an AGP slot for a graphics card.

If you play 3D games on it a used geforce 3 ($20-30 in FS/FT forum here) or used geforce 4 ti (not mx!) for $40-50 might be worth the money if you don't want to spend $800-1,000 for a modern gaming computer.

I rebuilt one of those machines before, I went ahead and got a new case for it for 35 bucks and got a new cheap ($50) power supply, nothing special. I charged 150 for the fix so I made some good profit.

HP has used some weird shaped PSUs. Take the measurements yourself to be sure. The connectors are usually standard on HP.

Thanks for the tip on the PS.I have a gaming computer already so it would be a gift for My bro in law or sister. It has one of the g-force cards but I can't remember which one in it and a revolution 7.0 sound card. It wouldn't run the newer games so I built a gaming machine(first time) last year.
I just want to see my old one get used. It would be mostly for surfing and music. The option to game on it would be nice but I guess I'm wondering if it's worth it. Probably not from the sounds of it.
