Hello guys.
Currently running a gtx1080 on my benq 2720z 144hz monitor and looking to upgrade tot 1440p. Beginning to think the graphics card need some more pixels
Not sure what to buy.

Maybe the Acer XG270HU 1440p 144hz Will do?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Acer XG270HU uses FreeSync which is not supported on NVIDIA cards. Also, I think an Acer TN panel will be a downgrade coming from a BenQ TN panel, image quality-wise. If you go TN, go with some other brand than Acer. I hear the Asus PG278Q actually has pretty good image quality for a TN panel, and it has GSync as well. For a little bit less $, there's BenQ Zowie XL2720 which is also pretty good for a TN, but has FreeSync instead of GSync. I think you'll want to pay the extra for GSync, it will make a big difference when running 1440p resolution on a GTX 1080.

But I would upgrade more than just the resolution. Going from 1080p to 1440p, you're going to feel underwhelmed if all the other specs are the same, considering the amount of money that upgrade is going to cost. I'd go for an IPS or VA panel. Here are some VA/IPS GSync screens:

AOC AG271QG 27" 2560x1440 AHVA 165Hz
Acer XB270HU 27" 2560x1440 IPS 144Hz
Acer Predator XB271HU 27" 2560x1440 IPS 165Hz
Acer Predator Z271UV 27" 2560x1440 IPS 165Hz
ASUS PG279Q 27" 2560x1440 IPS 144Hz
ViewSonic XG2703 27" 2560x1440 IPS 165Hz

Finally, I'm not convinced the graphics card needs more pixels. 1080p @ 144Hz is plenty of work for a GTX 1080, much of the time you're not going to hit anywhere near 100 fps on maximum settings in graphically demanding games, even if your CPU doesn't bottleneck. What is your CPU by the way? And what are the rest of your specs? When asking for advice about any upgrade, it's always a good idea to list all your components and peripherals just so people know what sort of setup they're dealing with and if the upgrade makes sense.

Yeah those specs look pretty balanced for 1440p gaming.

Basically any of the GSync monitors mentioned above is going to be a good upgrade, but I suggest you take at least a quick look at reviews (mainly pcmonitors.info, tftcentral.co.uk, maybe tom's hardware) and decide which one you like best. (If any. As I said, GTX 1080 is not too much for 1080p 144Hz.)

With any 1440p 144Hz IPS, I think there's a fair chance you get a unit with excessive backlight bleeding. If that happens (or you encounter any other obvious issue like very uneven black level), it's definitely worth a bit of RMA circus. So be sure to buy from a seller that offers a good return policy and is easy to deal with - for monitors, Amazon is probably the best.

The ips gsync panels are nog fitting in my budget. I got like 400 euro when i sell my benq panel. So i have to save for sometime or buy something cheaper. Just bought aan 628 euro gpu. Thats why i was going for te Acer 1440p 144hz. But that is a freesync. This one fits the budget

I suggest buying used for that price range. You can find yourself a 1440p ips Gsync monitor for about that much money I bet. There's always some crazy enthusiast looking to get more money for their next upgrade and will sell at a stupid low price. I know cause I've done it. I've done the lunatic low price sell off to raise cache for my next fix.

I dont have experience with a wide variety of monitors. But I love my ASUS ROG and would definitely recommend it to any gamer.
Not sure if its popular with professionals or not. I think it can be calibrated as well as any modern display.
