Hi guys, so currently I have:
AMD RYZEN 7 3700X, RTX 2070 SUPER XC GAMING, PSU: Corsair RM750x, Case:Fractal Design Define R5 Black, DIMM: Crucial 16GB KIT DDR4 3200MHz CL16,MB: ASUS TUF X570-PLUS GAMING, Cooler: Be quiet! PURE ROCK
And Iam looking for upgrade, 1440p monitor 144Hz (but I dont have to have high FPS on flat screen, around 70 is ok for me) and virtual reality headset HP reverb G2 ( 2,160 x 2,160 pixels per eye,90Hz).
My plan currently upgrade to: RX 7900XT and 5800X3D
My questions:
1/ power supply, will my 750W be ok? Its what manufacturer reccomend for 7900XT but some reccomend to have some safety pillow, I would not want to work on the edge and have my power supply die in three years or so, part picker show 525W for this (possible) future system and I heard this number should be multipled by 1,5 so that would give 790W (I understand this is not a must to 100% follow). I read both XT and 5800X3D can be undervolted well so I could maybe safe some W. FOr sure I will not upgrade my power supply now, If there will be some doubts I would go probably with 4070i which take cca 50W less or even 4070 and then no need CPU change (so much).
2/ Cooling, will my PURE ROCK be ok for 5800X3D? Again I already did research, some says ok, some says should get better, but I guess case also take its part and my Define R5 is quite big and I also have two fans there, one in front and one in back.
3/ Would you pick different GPU? Some said Nvidia GPUs better for VR than AMD, but not sure If its true ot just AMD hate, i didnt find any comparasion for VR games.I know Nvidia have advantage in DLSS3 (only flat screen) but 7900XT should no need it now in 1440p and once it need there should be FSR 3.0 and it has 20GB VRAM and Nvidia only 12.
Note: I would like 7900XT also because it has USB-C port what is best connection for reverb G2 as there is problem to connect it directly via MLB with my X570 chipset. THere is solution like rev 2 cable or powered USB hubs but USB-C to GPU is best.
