I have searched the forums for the information I am lookin for but I can't seem to find exaclty what I need, so heres my question. I am thinking of upgrading, and not being a rich texan oiler money is of fair importance, here is what I have and what I do with it:
P4 socket 423 1.8Ghz OCed to ~2.0Ghz
Shuttle AT31 mobo (not stunning to say the least)
512MB RDRAM 800Mhz
ATi Radeon 9800
2 x 40 gig maxtor 7200rpm drives
1 x 120 gig maxtor 7200rpm ATA133
PCI cards: FireWire, USB 2.0, SB Live! 5.1, 10/100 NIC, ATA133 adapter
Pioneer DVR A05 Dvd-rw drive
54x samsung CDROM
400 watt PSU
WinXP Pro
21" Sony CRT
I play games, work with Photoshop, Bryce3D, Lightwave (for fun), Internet, MSOffice and all the normal stuff one does with a computer. Also I have a miniDV camera so I edit movies with Adobe premeire and then burn them to DVD.
uh... I think thats the vitals, now my question is: I think that my mobo, memory, CPU are the only weak links in the combo, so in your oppinions (everyone on this board is a lot more up to snuff on the latest technology than me) Should I just swap these out, shoudl i start over, if I swap out should I go for AMD and DDR, intel and DDR or just wait till newer stuff comes. I am quite lost in the wash of new technologies that have come out since Ive been on the scene and any infomation or opinnions you can offer will help me greatly in my purchasing decisons. Thank you.
