Upgrading really old video AGP card to new one

Hi all,

I am currently running AMD 2400 XP with 1 GB of RAM, 500GB HDD and a crappy Radeon 7000 VE video card with dual VGA output. I used to have 2 17inch CRTs but now only have a Dell 18 inch LCD. I am possibly buying a Dell 2407 FPW and not sure if my video card can handle 2 LCDs.

I don't play much games, the last game I played was WC3 and I usually use it for web surfing, videos etc.

I already have a Sharp 32 inch LCD for my main TV so I highly doubt I will be using the monitor for much else.

My price range for a video is up to $150 (if this is even possible to handle the 2407).

Don't really know much about that video card other than it's really old, but if dual lcds is a no go (although I think it would work, but not dual DVI), this has dual DVI support and falls within budget:

a nVidia 6600GT would also be in your price range...although I don't see any on newegg with dual DVI, but there are some 6800XTs are suppore dual DVI

Dual DVI is desirable to get, if possible. You can always convert DVI to VGA if necessary. For that reason, the 1600Pro linked to above is a good buy. I also have an AGP 1600Pro (a saphhire one) on my TV computer, and it is a very nice card. The 6800XT that somebody linked to is also good for your needs.

To be honest, your ATI7000 will easily handle 2 monitors at high resolution for nomral windows use. It just won't game well. No card under $150 will allow gaming at full resolution on a Dell 2407, though...

I also had an Athlon XP 2400, but I'm a heavy "budget" gamer, so it made more sense for me to ditch AGP altogether and upgrade to PCI Express. After selling off my old parts, the upgrade cost was not all that much, and well worth it.
