Upstairs/Downstairs wireless solution?

I have a Netgear WGR614 router, and the range is pretty poor (I'm guessing due to neighbor interference -- I live in a townhome). I can't reach my downstairs living room from my upstairs home office. My situation:

Upstairs: ADSL modem, wireless router, 1xPC
Downstairs: Xbox
Both: My notebook computer

What I'm thinking about doing is this.. Wireless router upstairs, wireless router downstairs. Connect the two routers via powerline networking. What do I need to buy to make this happen?

If you think it is a possibility of interference have you tried switching your wireless router to a different channel first? You might solve your problem without spending money on extra equipment.

Since it's not a huge townhouse you could also get a couple of longer CAT5 cables and put your wireless router closer to the stairs and run your cables back to your upstairs computer/dsl modem to get better reception downstairs.

Just some thoughts.

Yeah, I've tried different channels. The problem is that I pick up about 10 different neighbor's routers, and theirs are probably better than mine. All it takes is a good MIMO router and it will clobber the airwaves for the rest of us.

I don't really want to lay wires everywhere -- and bringing the router out to the stairway didn't help much anyways.

So, back to my original question.. is it POSSIBLE to bridge two wireless routers via powerline networking, and if so, how and what do I need?
