I realize you're just venting, because you know this will never happen.

It's a very common feeling among those who live in territories that have one big metro center but are not part of that center. I used to live in Massachusetts, and everyone outside the I-495 corridor had similar sentiments towards Boston. People in rural Ontario resent Torontonians, etc.

The solution is to move to a state where there is no big dog to wag its tail. Vermont serves that purpose for me, but ironically, we even get a bit of it here -- most of the population is in the Burlington area, and people "down south" like me get a bit ignored.

Given what I know about you, New Hampshire or Maine would be good places to consider. (But beware southeastern NH, which has been turning into an exurb of Boston for decades.)

Consider that folks like you have screwed over the middle class and have driven business away, causing taxes to be higher on us than anywhere else, with thousand a month in taxes alone on a 200k home, not to mention the other crushing ones and conflicting and illogical system of regulations. I'll tell you what, you are close to Albany/NYC environs. You take them and they can do for you what they've done for us. You'll love it.

Lived in VT near Middlebury for several years (thats why I know about guns there) and Hanover NH before that. Of the many states I've lived in NH was my favorite although I liked VT too. MA wasn't so bad compared to NY. They were liberal but not so dismissive of it's citizens and not half so authoritarian. We're serfs here.

I have some friends who live in the southern tier and they're looking to move to Pa. Quite a few of their coworkers already live there as it's just a 20 mile drive to work.

I was born in NYC and lived there for 17 years and really considered NYC as the totality of New York State... Upstate was sorta the woods... hehehe

But, today New York has what 19+ million folks and NYC about 8+ million. It seems to me that there are more representatives north of NYC than in it. That ratio ought to provide parity at least for the rest of the State. Given that you are at odds with it all it must not be as clear cut as that.

Here in California we'd like to divorce the North from the South but that won't happen either... So. Cal is very different than the North and even more so with the east about 15 miles from the coast from North to South.

There is no way we'd be allowed two additional Senators as would be the case in NY.

I'm not sure why folks live where they do... Even Montana has about 15 or 20 residents but I've no idea why.

Maybe if the State gave land grants to some of the population of the City it would make life more bearable up there.

I know you are frustrated over the NY laws. You should be.

I think gun owners in NY have only one recourse which is to immediately challenge on a constitutional basis some of the new laws. Greater public support will not be behind you--look at how many voted for the law and much of the public is behind them. You need to challenge in court certain provisions of the law that contradict federal law, 2nd and 14th amendments: particularly in recent years state laws on handguns have been overruled on these grounds.

I think the AWB will stand but the 7 round mag is entirely in the crosshairs of a potential overrule. It clearly inhibits your 2nd amendment right to self defense.
