URGENT STAPLES QUESTION!!! PLEASE READ....

I just placed an online order believing that the order confirmation would print out as being on 5/25/02 (for rebate purposes). My reasoning was that if I had, for example placed an order online in California, that it would still count as the 25th. I'm on the east coast (NY), but I'm wondering how that confirmed the order as being placed on the 26th!!!

Am I screwed for the $100 in rebates that I was planning on?

Would adjusting my PC's time solve it?

Thank you to anyone who posts...

1. Staples timestamps on their end,
2. Yes, your reciept will show the date they shiped the package out (tuesday at least), but call Staples and tell them to fax you evidence you ordered before the cuttoff. This way your deadline is the mail-rebate-by date, usually a month later.
3. If your *that* worried, call Staples and after asking for proof, ask to be transfered to the rebate center, and refuse shippment if you don't get the answer you want.

Thanks, crobusa. That was exactly the type of answer I was looking for.

If Staples timestamps on their end, however, aren't they screwing over people in Pacific Standard Time by three hours? Anyone who placed an order after 9PM would have it count for the next day, wouldn't it?

I'm wondering if they use the internet major backbone routers/switches/hubs at my end to timestamp?

cbass98, i understand your concern that this isn't a hot deal, and does not belong here... however, the fact that you replied only bumps this back to the top.

If people don't like the looks of a thread title, don't click on it, much less reply to it and bump it.

This member did no harm by asking their question here. If my own money was at stake, and I needed a timely response to a question concerning my money, I would most certianly do what I thought would be the quickest way to get an answer

crobusa did a great job in answering the question, and as soon as all the "hot deals forum self proclaimed police" stop posting in this thread, it will find its way to the 4th or 5th page where it will be left alone and not bother anyone.

I feel like an idiot for bumping this thread, but when I found it it was the 4th post after all the stickies, so i don't see much harm done. No need for a lock, just let the thread die on its own.

Sometime back I bought a digi cam from Staples. Later the manufacturer started giving a 64M Smart Media Card if purchased between two dates. I bought this camera just one day before the start date of that promotion. I had called Staples and requested them to Fax me the Invoice for MIR purpose. On the invoice, I received, I saw the date of purchase as the following day as that was the day they charged my CC. So, I got the SmartMedia Card.

Call Staples and ask for the Invoice. - K

AMEN Joemonkey...

I'd say this is a "Hot Deal" because it directly relates to the "Hot Deals" found in this forum. I've noticed that there's NEVER, EVER an absence of inane whining by people with (apparently) nothing better to do than nit-pik...get a life, people! Thank God most of the posters at this forum have a "helpful" attitude, and that's what makes this a GREAT PLACE!

Pertaining to the question asked by the original poster, I, too, had this question last night. The coupon codes for the Staples software deals came back as "expired." I called Staples, and they said that indeed, they work off of eastern time zone (thought that kind of odd...) He said to go ahead and place the order (as long as it was before midnight where I was,) and call back to speak with customer service (during their hours,) and that they would make things right. One thing that was particularly interesting to me, was that he mentioned all their coupons have a two-day "grace period." He didn't elaborate, but perhaps that means they can make things right on an order, up to 48 hours after the stated expiration date of a coupon??? Hope that helps -
