Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang spoke at the Goldman Sachs Communicopia conference on Wednesday and was asked about the geopolitical risk tied to Taiwan and what he would do if something happened.

“In the event that we have to shift from one fab to another, we have the ability to do it,” Huang said, in conversation with Goldman Sachs

CEO David Solomon. “We won’t be able to get the same level of performance or cost, but we will be able to provide the supply.”

Good this needs to be done.
I know there will be inefficiencies and I understand the intel hate. This is a choice between a huge risk and mentioned inefficiencies.
As a Country we need intel to be successful.

Intel is still a top tier chip producer. Cutting them for dead would be foolish. Policy makers don't have the luxury of playing fanboi DIAF games.

60 Minutes had a segment interviewing Raimondo about 2 weeks ago (?) that was really something. At the end it was suggested IIRC that she's apt to have a prominent spot in Kamala's administration, if that materializes, maybe Treasury Secretary. The 60 Minutes piece had me convinced that she's extremely sharp, quick on her feet to boot. They said at the start that she's an "up and coming" Democrat. It was very impressive.
