The announcers have said nothing about having 8 cars to finish, they just said it was a good race.

You know Trulli is pissed.

So did you watch Le Mans over the weekend?

The FIA changed the tire regulations this year in an effort to slow the cars down. A tire that would have to last the whole race has to be harder, which makes it slower. Too bad they're just as fast.

This has to be the saddest day in F1 that I've witnessed in a long time. On the bright side, tickets for the front straight for next year's U.S. Grand Prix (if there is one) will be uber-cheap
$25 3-day front straight tix anyone?

Wow, I really wanted to go to this race. I'm glad I didn't now.

I'm on the fence on how I feel about this. On one hand I think it was a horrible decision for the FIA to essentially exclude all of the Michelin cars from racing and it's horrible to the fans. They're alienating the US which was as far as I'm concerned a fairly pivotal group of viewers. If F1 can capture the American market they can easily make it. On the other hand, it's not fair to the Bridgestone constructors to allow the Michelin constructors to make adjustments that are strictly against the rules.

Which means it won't count.

Has anyone got a link to confirm that?

EDIT: UK Commentary has just said it will count towards the standings as long as the race goes over 75% distance

The rule is that as long as 2 (TWO) laps are complete, the race goes in the books. Looks like a privateer team is going to put a man on the podium...

I think FIA did the right thing. It's not their job to play favors. I think the Michelin teams should have run, just at a reduced speed through the turn. They could still easily beat up on the junky Minardi's

Yeah but you have to imagine that the fans see this as a slap in the face. They aren't able to hear the commentators so they have no reason why the drivers withdrew. As far as they know the teams could have withdrawn because they hate Americans not because there are safety issues.

I think that in itself would have been extremely dangerous. Turn 13 is a VERY high speed banked turn. Imagine coming into 13 in a Ferrari at 200+ mph and trying to avoid a group of cars going 100...

Hopefully they will remove Indy from the track list and take the race to another track. I hate this track. I hear the drivers don't car too much for it.

I bet the crowd is thinking how much F1 cars suck compared to IRL cars since the indycars can cope with 4 of those banked turns with no problems... hahahahahaha...

Wow...now I don't feel so bad for giving up my ticket!

But I feel sorry for my friend--she is a HUGE Ralph Schumacher fan and she pretty much bought tickets just to see him race here. I TOLD everyone Montreal would be a better race to go to but it was too close to exams and people starting internships.

Ralf Schumacher wasn't going to race here anyways, he crashed in practice in is sitting this one out... ironically due to the Michelins.

When it comes to whining, a lot of guys sound like chicks, especially when they don't know jack sh!t about it yet they still butt their face in it.

The tickets were bought in February/March, so she was fully expecting to see Ralph back then.

Nah, it will just confirm for everyone in the US that the French suck.

I think the Bridgestone teams should still get points. It's not their fault and it's unfair to penalize them for Michelin's problems.

I feel bad for all of the US fans who bothered to support F1 in a country where it struggles to make any impact. AFAIK, the first they knew of the Michelin teams retiring was when those cars pulled in.

There were solutions to this but the F1 administration/organisation is is too retarded to realise when they're backed into a corner. Bernie Ecclestone looked like an assclown when Martin Brundle was interviewing him for ITV and deservedly so.
