contrary to popular belief, the US has lost more wars than won lately
civil war doesn't count because we were fighting ourselves so either way, we would have lost.
Korean war ended with us repelling back and chinese push and then establishing a DMZ zone- that is, rather than forcing korea to stay together, the communists got their own land, and so did South Korea. I would call this a victory.
Vietnam war was a war that we lost (i believe)
afghanistan- we managed to remove the enemy regime from power- and did it quickly too! that sounds like victory.
Iraq- caught their leader (Saddam), and that should have been the end, but we're sticking around to insure that they establish a stable government. if we left now, we can claim to have removed an enemy regime from power, but that would be wrong on so many levels if we left the nation in shambles. Not a loss, most definitely, but still lots of work to be done.
