I've got a computer I built about 8 months ago, my first.
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.00 Ghz
Asus A8V Deluxe socket 939
WinXP Professional SP2
1 Gb dual channel Geil memory
Up until recently I've only connected periferals to the USB ports (mouse, scanner, occasionally memory stick and SD card thru adapter) and I never really transfered more than 256mb at a time so I didn't notice the slow speeds.
Recently I have had to connect large hard drives to transfer large movie files and a 8Gb folder would take 25 minutes to transfer. I had tried multiple drives on both the onboard USB 2.0 ports as well as an additional PCI USB 2.0 card I added recently.
I emailed ASUS tech support and they said to "Make sure you have SP1 or SP2 installed from Microsoft. Do not make any changes in the BIOS, clear cmos if possible. Go into safe mode remove all the USB drivers and restart the system."
Google search I found this info
Before I try something like this I was wondering if anyone else had any similar experiences and what they did to resolve them.
Thanks, Bob
