USB 3.0 disconnecting on MSI Z97 U3 Plus board

This is driving me nuts I have two MSI Z97 U3 Plus boards with the same USB 3.0 issues. Both running i5-4690 cpu's, one with dual SSD and one with just one SSD on windows 7, HP/64 bit

2.0 speeds not matter what I connect to the 3.0 ports. USB 3.0 on front case as well as rear 3.0 ports on the IO panel, both on different controllers displaying the same random disconnect and slow speeds.

Called MSI, and as helpful as they are, no problem is solved. All drivers deleted and updated and issues still exist. I did read an old thread here from a year ago, and it seemed like nobody could solve this issue as it is widespread over many different platforms and controllers, but is it solvable now a year later or any tips?

I just built a mini itx with an ASUS H97i Plus motherboard and have zero 3.0 issues.

Anyone? Does that mean 3.0 is still an ongoing issue with many boards?

You may want to reinstall the latest chipset drivers from the board manufacturer. Start there.

What BIOS version are you on? I see there are some updates pertaining to USB

I'm still on 1.0 for BIOS. I never updated it as nothing pertains to the USB on the updates except better keyboard compatibility. Also, kind of worried about bricking the board as so many had done this with MSI BIOS updates.

Thanks for the tip on the chipset drivers. Somehow that slipped my mind lately and I never thought about it at all. Will give that a try and see how if goes!

Try updating the bios first then make sure that you have the latest drivers. Bios updates are there for a reason and if it helps your system then you should use them. I had similar issues with an evga z87 ftw and they would come and go at random.

Mine come and go at random too. Yeah, I guess I should update the BIOS then. Just reading the MSI forum has me a little spooked though as I don't have dual BIOS on this board and it would be such a pain to disassemble everything if it gets bricked and also the down time too.
