I am looking for 16ft USB ACTIVE EXTENSION, so i went to newegg, but the reviews either said, they can't connect more then 2 or the power was not enough. I am looking for one taht can connect any amount properly and that can power practically any usb. Any ideas?

I think the USB spec doesn't allow longer than something like 25 feet of cable without some sort of power booster.

Use an extension, plus a powered hub, with the hub at the far end, near what you'll be powering.

You should be able to find an 'active usb cable'.
We needed one for that purpose and purchased via web.
Works fine!

Well, i need around 30 ft before the usb reaches my destination.

I mean, the one's on newegg work, but the reviews say they can't connect even 2, let alone 5. They also state that the power is not enough.

Yeah, why can't you do this.

Get these:

Active USB 2.0 16' Cable

+ 16' USB Extension Cable

+ USB 2.0 4 Port Hub

+ Hub Power Adapter ( Look it up on their website )

So you have

Active Extension + Extension + Hub + Power Adapter

That should let you draw up to 500mA per USB port or whatever it is they claim is maximum.

"Cons: This hub gets unreasonably hot for such a small hub, even when no loads are attached to it. The design also violates USB spec, it only provides 3.3v to USB devices. The spec requires 5V to all devices, so some devices will not work with this hub. Even adding an external power adapter will not help because its sourcing the USB bus voltage off an internal 3.3v regulator.

Other Thoughts: Its hard to believe a company like IOGear would release a hub with such obvious defects."

Makes you wonder why people bitch about an obviously defective product on a website instead of RMAing it.

LOL. I guess thats what I get for posting at 3am picking the cheapest equipment. But how can it even pass USB spec at 3.3V?

Whatever the case, the hub at the end of the chain will need a wall socket to supply extra power for the ports.

The IOgear has some bad reviews. Overheating, which makes the USB not work soemtimes.

Why are they making a powered hub that is 3.3V ?
Thats just incompetence.

Look for a belkin powered hub.
They use the standard 7805 +5v regulator that can handle 1 Amp + before it shuts down.

On the other hand, it was nice of you to post a solution at 3 AM, and instead of posting back with a negative review of the product, the OP could have searched for a replacement component, now that he has an idea of the setup he needs.
