They had some at costco's too. Only costco had an A-A cable and and A-B cable for that price. So, depending on what you might need...

If you want cheap USB A-B cables...just goto outpost.com.
They are giving BELKIN USB A-B cables for 4.95 a piece, and as you all know overnight shipping is free
I think belkin is better.

I went and bought a Belkin at Circuit CIty for $25.00. Luckily I havent opened it yet because I found the Belkin ones at outpost for $5.00! Wow, thats a $20 difference. I love the Internet! I feel bad for those poor souls that pay $25 for something as cheap as a USB cable (I was one of them)!!

A bit OT:

So this USB is a new standard, they got to start with a clean slate. Why then did they decide to have two different kinds of connectors? Why complicate matters? From what I can see they both have the same number of connections and they're almost the same size, whatsupwitdat?

carmat4, if the Belkins from outpost is exactly the same as the one you just bought from OD, then you can just order another from outpost for $4.95. Return the brand new one you receive to OD with the OD receipt. You're not cheating anybody because you're returning the exact product you bought legitimately.

A is the connector that has one row of 4 pins that your hubs and motherboards have for plugging devices. the outline is a rectangle

B is the connector on the cable for devices with a removable usb cable have, it's 2x2, and the outline is a pentagon (irregular) with the top corners of a "square" cut off...

i bought the stratitec usb hub and those cables a few weeks ago. i needed a hub right then and couldn't wait for one to come in so i went with this brand ive never heard of nor could find reviews for. ive been very pleased with it so far. 0 problems and have 4 devices connected all the time. printers, gamepads, cameras, etc. i was just going to return it when i got something ordered and in but i've been happy with it so im sticking with it.

these cables are pretty damn cheap - the cost at best buy for them is just a few dollars. but they can make more money off of the cable than they do off of a printer that needs it.

Yeah, i was in need of a long USB cable after i got my Astra 3400 thru that buy.com deal. It comes with a 3 foot cable (waaaaay to short), so i looked at CompUSA for cables while i was picking up the Half-Life GOTY and Starcraft battlechest deal (man, since i've started reading these boards, ive spent more money....) anyway... 6 foot belkins for $15.99!! Gimme a break! I totally forgot about outpost.com... found 10 foot belkins for $4.95... I bought two for less than the one at compUSA! <homer>Whoo hoo</homer>

I'm telling you guys,

these cables at Sams club are first class all the way, never seen nicer quality cables. I've seen the belkins for $20 bucks and they look cheap compared to these. Belkins don't have gold plated contacts.

Costco has a pair for 6.98 tut they are real cheapos.

Once more for us USB newbies...

If I want to buy a USB cable to plug one end into my computer USB port and one into my scanner USB connector....I need a A-B cable right ?
