USB in and out

hello AT! I am having a rather annoying issue with my usb ports. I built this rig myself as I usually do and this has not happened before. It seems that every time my processor (X2 5600 on AM2+) gets a some what heavy load it disconnects my Apple G5 wired keyboard. It does it with various frequency, yet the pattern is that it goes back and forth between just connecting and disconnecting and freezing certain keys, in that order.

Any help is appreciated as usual and I thank you guys in advance for it.

Exactly, try those steps first.
Also does your pc detect it just as a generic HID keyboard? Or does it detect it as the Apple modeled keyboard?

played with the usb ports to no success. Unfortunately I do not have another keyboard to test. Only PS/2 ones.

oh and xP sees it as "HID Keyboard Device"

Well if you are SURE that you could use an Apple Keyboard with a PC, then that keyboard might be defected. You want to test it on another computer just to see what happen.

Could also be a power issue. When the CPUs are hitting max, you might be dropping voltage on the MB and USB lines...just a thought. Might want to check how your voltage is holding up and make sure you have enough power in your PSU.

That is actually what I was leaning towards. Ill try to monitor the voltages. The PSU is a solid brand at 600 Watts. I'm not running anything fancy either, the video is a HD4670 then an old soundblaster sound card, 2 gigs of ram, x2 5600 AM2+, and then a SATA HDD

I am more inclined to suspect a driver issue. Check the chipset and USB drivers. Perhaps there are specific drivers for your keyboard as well?
