USB Memory Encryption

I want to be able to protect the contents of the USB memory stick I always carry in my pocket. Ideally, the encryption software would reside on the memory stick so I can use it on any computer, I would just have to enter a password prior to being able to read or write from/to it.

TrueCrypt appears to require being installed on the computer used to access the encrypted memory stick. This would work at home but I cannot install software on a machine that is not mine or the machine in my office. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Truecrypt is able to be run from the flash drive as well as storing the volume on the flash drive. IIRC, the only requirement is an account with administrative priveleges.

To use encryption on a portable USB drive, you would typically encrypt less than 100% of the drive. The encryption software is put on the unencrypted part of the drive. To read the encrypted "partition," you run the encryption software from the USB drive, then mount the encrypted partition with the password. The encrypted data shows up as another drive letter.

Truecrypt needs administrator rights to run. You can also check out FreeOTFE which doesn't need administrator rights to run.
