USB Plate/Connector

Looking to purchase an A8N-E in the near future. Many motherboards today come with a separate USB plate/connector that attaches directly to onboard USB pins (and occupies the place of an empty expansion plate). I think they're great because I've had to to connect a USB port pin by pin and it's not fun.

Trouble is, the A8N-E does not come with one (although the M2NPV does for some reason). I have no idea what they are called. I've tried 'USB plate' and 'USB connector'. Can't think of what they might be called and/or if they are available for purchase separate of a motherboard.

Any help would be appreciated. I feel like an idiot for having to ask, this shouldn't be that complicated .

They are sometimes refered to as USB risers, though that will also give you some useless hits.

Or are you referring to a USB Front Panel?

Hi, Aluvus has a good suggestion for what to call it. If no luck, wait until you get the MB. The manual that should come with it will give you much better info on name and how to get it. Checked my MSI manual and they call it a D-Bracket, but it also has 4 diagnostic leds, so may not be a good generic name.

Looks like "USB bracket" is a pretty good search phrase. Seems to be all signal and no noise. "USB backplate" turns up mostly relevant results, but in the UK.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I feel a little bit better knowing there isn't an official name for them.

I once had to set up additional USB ports pin by pin for a motherboard that had horrible documentation (it was a Mach Speed). The panel/riser/bracket makes life a lot simpler. I hear Asus has great documentation, so hopefully I will be able to find something in there. Thanks again for the help.
