USB Question

My AT motherboard has a USB header so that I can connect 2 USB ports to it. I purchased the needed adapter so I can connect a printer. My question is in the manual is shows the 5 pins with one labled as number 1. There are 5 wires to the connector that plugs into the motherboard; red, green, white, and 2 black. The red is on one side of the connecter black on the other. When I plug it in does the red wire go to the pin labled as 1 or the black wire. It seems to me that the red wire would connect there but I want to double check. Thanks.

Id say red goes in 1 since if memory serves me right, the 2 blacks go in the center on AT PS's

You have probably an old motherboard. At this time there was no standard for USB headers. You might have to re-arrange the wires in the connector. If I remember correctly the red wire id 5V+, the green is Data +, the white is Data-and the 2 black ones are grounds.

Look at your mobo manualto get the header'spin out.
