USB socket replacements.

I hope someone can help me, I have a motherboard with the standard pair of USB sockets on the back plate, however they got damaged and no longer work. It would be easy enough to de-solder them and replace however I can't seem to find any place that sells the part. I've tried some local electronics suppliers as well as online places like Jameco and cannot seem to find any.

If you happen to know where these are available for purchase I would greatly appreciate the help.

why not just get an usb pci card??

Something like a replacement onboard USB port might be a little hard to find. You may get in touch of some of the suppilers to the mobo manufacturers. I don't recommend doing it. Like the post above, get a USB PCI card. You can get a 5-port USB 2.0 PCI card for $34.00 from Thompsons Computer Warehouse. Probably cheaper!!!

Um, never looked real close to see if they're pinned the same where they contact the board, but if they are....

Find a dead motherboard and steal them from there. Friends, local computer shops, wherever.

The PCI add on board idea makes sense though

Go for an add on card, might as well get USB 2.0

Or scrounge around at some mom and pop shops for a dead mainboard
