I just picked up a USB TURBO QUAD 4 by ADS and let me tell you its a great improvement for those of you who use a lot of USB bandwidth HOGS like WinTV USB, Web Cams, USB Hubs,USB NICs etc. THis device has 4 individual USB host controllers on board for 12MB bandwidth each. With your on motherboard USB controller you will have a total of 60MB of USB bandwidth! I have mine in the PCI slot that shares with USB so now all 5 host controllers share the same IRQ. I have many uSB devices and now still even will ALL of them active at once have over 75% resources free..cant beat this with a stick in my opinion. This may not be the answer for everyone..especially if you have no free PCI slots or IRQ. I use SCSI devices so I had 5 free IRQ anyway and several slots by utilizing all the USB periferals. If you are in a similar situation and need a solution, I recommend this item..it utilizes a Lucent chipset and thus far has worked flawlessly. This also is a solution for those using the BX Master that doesnt like to boot with USB hubs attached to its onboard controller when overclocked. Hope this info helps someone out there.

Curtis, My USB hub is a 7 port self powered hub..also have a 3 port powered hub in my monitor..each has a 500ma powered port for each periferal, which helps greatly, but still they connect to your single USB controller on board which is limited to 12MB bandwidth. Wintv, Intel web cam, each use 75% or more of the availiable bandwidth alone! So if you tried to connect your USB NIC adaptor and WinTV at once for example you couldnt watch TV and surf at the same time..now with this device you can Yes USB nework adaptors are availiabe in 10bt or 10/100.. I have one of each for my cable modem and for networking to my daughters computer for internet. 2 NICs would have been necessary just to do this..and 2 PCI slots..now I dont need any PCI slots for networking. Other bandwidth hogs are USB scanners,USB modems, zip drives and USB speakers...and ALL USB devices use some of the bandwidth..the motherboard resources, even your mouse, keyboard, joystick and game controllers..it all adds up. THis is primarily a stop gap measure until USB 2.0 is implemented and bandwiths get way up there..but for now this is the best solution I have found yet.

It will be some time yet before you see periferals that will take advantage of 2.0..but there will be an exciting generation of USB to come. It is backwards compatible to current USB devices but few will actually perform better as they were designed for the 12MB bandwidth. This adapter will make all current boards far more efficient without having to upgrade to RDRAM boards. Like I said its not perfect, but a great improvement for as little as 35.00

well, it's gonna take until next summer or spring until ALL those goodies in terms of devices are WIDELY available.

a few weeks are a few weeks, but there are only 4 weeks in a month... it may well be years end, which i consider a few weeks away, despite the fact that it is also a few months away...

the benefit of the USB 2.0 controllers, in addition to the higher speed USB 2.0 specifications, is that the chips also include usb 1.1 controllers. that is a chip will have at least one 2.0 controller and SEVERAL usb 1.1 controllers. this will mean optimization of bandwidth for each device...

How do you find which PCI slot shares the IRQ with the motherboard USB controller.

Your motherboard manual should direct you there, otherwise you can check in system information under IRQ and see which device shares the same IRQ with USB and see what slot that device is in. That would be one way.

It took a long time for USB devices to really start hitting the mainstream. But I don't think it will be the same with USB 2.0. Geez, I got a mb with 6 pci slots, and already I'm runnin out again
