USB vs PS2

does it matter which one I use (usb or ps/2) to connect my logitech mx518?

right now I have it hooked up with the PS/2 connector because im a little low on USB ports. does this affect its accuracy or anything?

As long as it works - you are AOK. The only difference is, the PS/2 port is not hot pluggable. Has to be connected on boot.

If you're a gamer, I'd suggest that you save up a USB slot for your mouse. I've heard that PS/2 does decrease accuracy, so why take the chance when you don't have to?

I don't know how true that is out right. Most USB mice operate with a 125Hz polling rate (which is actually controlled by windows unless you have drivers override it), I believe PS2 is up to 200Hz. A few mice natively support 500Hz or even more (the G5 is 500Hz, and the Copperhead can do 1000Hz). Although I've read about modifying the polling rate (you can do it manually or download a program to do it for you). If you use such a thing (or your mouse natively supports it via its own drivers) USB definitely beats PS2.
