What's wrong with an 'Asian Subcontinent'? As far as I can tell USC has a lot of Asian students as well. And last I remembered, having Asian students ISN'T a bad thing.

High crime rate -- wow, UCLA is in the middle of Bel Air, Beverly Hills, Brentwood, and Westwood. Where is USC located?

Bad campus for bike riding. OH MY GOD! I can't go to school there! Geez...

Just because you got rid of Hackett doesn't mean that you're going to have a team that can beat UCLA.

Smarter students -- yeah, some may be smarter than UCLA students, but at least UCLA students get into school on their academic MERIT rather than the size of their wallets.

wow! I can't believe this has become an USC vs. UCLA thread. I guess as a Bruin I am obligated to defend the honor of my school. The quality of a school can be judged by the quality of alumni that it is able to produce. That brings to mind one of UCLA's most notable alumnus, Jackie Robinson. As for USC, we have a murderer named O.J. Simpson. Hehe, enough said.

well, usc also produced frank gifford, who at the age of seventy was caught with a playboy centerfold 30 years his younger. yeah, go trojans! don't forget pat hayden, usc's rose bowl winning QB who is also a rhodes scholar. btw, thank you ucla for coach bibby. he's leading us to one of our most successful seasons. he learned from the best: playing for coach wooden at ucla

ok ok... i admit to a few problems with ucla..

1. since we're not situated the ghetto of LA, we have to pay about twice the amount in rent compared to our trojan brothers...

2. since ucla is the most sought after school in california (most applicants received), we do have a problem with overcrowding in the dorms and westwood apts. this also leads to problems with lack of parking for non-dorm people-- who here actually commutes 10+ miles to ucla and have been denied parking?? i'm sure usc has plenty of space for everyone =)

get it straight: the saying goes: &quot;you can't spell sucks without usc.&quot; the word &quot;without&quot; conveys that the clause after it is required in order to satisfy the preceding clause. obviously, you wish to demean the University of Southern California, implying that the expression &quot;sucks&quot; requires the letters &quot;usc.&quot; so then you would need &quot;without.&quot; i'm a trustee scholar too. thank you usc for $100,000 in tuition money =)

btw, not to knock my own school, but here are some good usc pseudoacronyms (croton, a pseudoacronym would be a false acronym. an acronym is the first letter of a series of words, like UCLA or USC. a word is a collection of letters. letters are those funny buttons on your computer.)

Croton - You should really check out the crime statistics for Westwood Vs. the area around USC.
Last year there were 8 homicides in the Westwood area. 0 in USC area. Rapings, muggings, and assaults were also less. I think we had more indecent exposures though. =)

I'll post a link to the stats when I find them.

And for the record, USC gives out WAY more financial aid than UCLA does. Very few people I know at USC are actually fully supported by their parents' wallets. Most of my friends are on free ride scholarships. All my UCLA friends go to that school because it's cheap =P.

don't forget that UCLA has alum such as Troy Aikman and JUDGE ITO.

and if you want to get into meaningless arguments -- we have LCC, ACA, and UCLA Unicamp -- all proud organizations originating from UCLA.

Personally, I do think UCS is a good school. Maybe they cost more than UC but I think they have a better student care compare to most UC. At least u can actually take the class u want without waiting for one or two quaters and can always graduate on time. Moreover, I don't know how you people has the bias of having more chinese means more crime rate, this is very insulting. In the Irvine, Orange county, the UCI has around 40% Asian student in the school and Irvine is one of the safest city in the whole US. UCLA and USC and UCB are just located in the wrong neighbourhood with a little more Asian live there but it doesn't mean we are criminal. Maybe my English is broken but that doesn't mean I am not as smart as you guys. Language is one of the hardest thing for people to catch up once they past certain age. But it doesn't mean we don't try or we don't learn or we give up on it. And if u really live in the silicon valley, u know most of the company's engineers are Asian. They are one of the largest work force behind the whole US top technology and that's the thing help the US to stay on the top of the world. Polo Alto, Los Alto, Los Gato, Cupertino, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara are the city u should check out.
