$16.99 for one steak eh. That's why I don't ever buy steaks, I don't have the foodstamps for it cause I'll be damned for spending that much in something I can eat in 5 minutes. Plus for that price I can get an entire steak dinner at AppleBees and it's good enough for me.

Bought some today. Pack came out to around $50. First go at it a tad on the rare side but damn it doesn't even matter. The meat is like butter.

Not worth $10 per pound price increase over regular rig eye.......which is just fine.

usda choice ribeye at my Costco is $10/lb.

I went and bought the ribeye cap the same day I read this thread.

Did you cook it rolled up or untie it and cook it flat? I would suggest cooking it flat.

I can't believe people are complaining about the $17 /lb price. It's cheap considering it's USDA Prime and it's only caps. And since the meat is so buttery rich, you can serve smaller portion and add king crab legs, lobster, or scallops with the meal.

I found it kind of difficult to cook it med rare because of the uneven thickness of the meat. I'm going to try sous vide method next. That should solve the uneven cooking problem and make it even more tender.

At my Costco anyways, its $16.99/lb for cap and for regular rib-eye. The cap I bought wasnt rolled up, it was more like strips. Similar to tritip.

Absolutely worth the $6/lb premium over choice. Not even in the same league.

I often buy rib steaks that are labelled "cap removed". Never thought about what it meant or thought to ask. Thanks to this thread I googled it and found a labelled picture that makes perfect sense. Yay for this thread. I'm also interested in trying just the cap now, but I've not seen anywhere selling it, and I don't have a Costco membership. I guess it's time to visit the butcher.

Does she let you borrow your balls when you go out on your own or does she still keep them in her purse?

so u judt add salt and pepper and pan fry it?

I did salt, pepper, cast iron, garlic (roast) and butter to baste. My cuts were kinda thick so technically it was more cube and I did about 2 minutes each side but that only got me to rare. Probably gotta finish off in the oven or take it to 3.5 or 4.

Had grilled ribeye cap and cold water lobster tail for dinner. I forgot to take pictures of the cooked food. The only picture I have is the uncooked steak.
