Dammit, read some of the great reviews of steaks from it. It arrives Saturday.

"Cooked a 1.5" thick NY Strip for my 1st cooking. Turned out FANTASTIC! ... It cooked the steak to a perfect med rare and fork tender n juicy. I may or may not have made a better steak on my Weber charcoal grill but that takes about 30-45 mins of prep."

Looks like a George Foreman grill. I had one years ago, gave it away. It's only real claim to fame was that the heating surfaces came in contact with both sides of the meat, so it cooked a bit faster. I only ever cooked chicken breasts and boneless pork loins on it, never a steak. It was kind of a pain in the ass to clean, and ultimately it was just another kitchen gadget with limited use taking up space.

I think you're better off with a cast iron grill pan, although the only thing that has over a simple cast iron skillet is that it will leave pretty grill marks on the meat. You're not grilling, though, you're just pan searing, and that's true of the George Foreman and the device above.

Yeah cleaning a cast iron is way easier than cleaning one of the foremans.

It's not a Foreman. It has removable plated for easy cleaning. The reviews say how much better it is than Foreman. So, be nice to hear 'it's great!'

The Foreman grill I owned had removable plates for cleaning.

Maybe this one is better, but it's essentially the same thing. Ultimately, it's a specialized gadget that does nothing you couldn't do with the pan that your great great grandmother used in 1890.

local supermarket has regular ribeyes on sale $7/lb this week.

regular ribeye is $10/lb @ costco
ribeye cap is $17/lb at Costco.

at less than 1/2 the price of a ribeye cap, I think I'll get the $7/lb ribeye.
must resist.........

I have been buying the prime beef from Costco lately. Holy crap is it good. I just bought some tri-tip that looks awesome. Can't wait to cook it. Maybe this weekend. We used to buy the filet's from there and they were good, but the prime filet is so freakin' awesome.

If George Foreman's face is on it, then you should be confident in cooking any type of meat on there.

This isn't a Foreman Grill, it's said to be a big upgrade. This thread has me not opening it yet wondering whether it's a mistake to get it.

I don't think any home contact grill can get hot enough to do much more than make bodybuilder chicken on

I've never heard that term before, but I think I know what you mean. Lately I've been on a pretty strict diet and counting calories religiously. Try to get my protein, fresh fruit, fresh vegetables. Add up the numbers, finished eating for the day, brush my teeth, done. So whether I eat a sliver of prime beef or a piece of dried out boneless skinless chicken breast doesn't make whole hell of a lot of difference to me.

I was making a joke, though. Please don't cook your meats on some electric thingy.

60 for a 3 pounds of fat with a little meat left in it?

guess you dont know about steak and and like to give comments on something your clueless about. Rib eye cap steak is probably one of the best pieces of cow there is, Period. if you dont like fat go with select lean meat steak. Real steak eaters that have tried a rib eye cap steak will know its value at 18.99 per lbs filet mignon meh. i bet you one of the people that orders all your steaks medium well or well done.

now besides the point, For some reason ribeye cap seems to be best when medium well better than medium rare. all other steaks medium rare.

Hello! A first post insulting others is not a way to win friends and influence people. Please don't.

Don't do it man. It's not worth the risk.

Also, my Costco hasn't had prime cap in the two times I've been the last couple weeks.

Its not a risk. my friend cooked it before i had come cause im the steak man around my friends. he accidentally cooked it almost well done. It taste much better almost well done than medium rare. It is by far one of the best cuts i ever tasted. and well worth it for 18.99 id choose it over 39.99 per lbs wasugyu rib eye. (american version of kobe steak) If you see it you better pick some up. You will never go back to other steaks for the price.

I usually choose prime steak over wagyu or washugyu cause the price difference for the little bit better steak just isnt worth it. Its good to try once in a blue moon though. But ill stick with the ribeye cap from costco and amaze all my friends and family. No one has been disappointed.

how i cook it. salt it to your preference for about 45 and cook at room temperature to almost well done. i add the pepper right before i cook it. add garlic if you wish or simple rosemary. but just salt and pepper is fine. ive tried it well done and medium rare. some reason it just taste so much better well done or almost well done. done be scared to experiment with spices.

by the way i created this account just for ribeye cap steak lmao. didnt even realize this is a computer forum. i googled search ribeye cap and this was one of the top finds on google.

on another note i also buy prime dry aged steaks. im a freaking steak lover. you wont catch me near a choice steak or be able to drag me to apple bees. those are just garbage after you go prime or try the ribeye cap steak. unless i was eating just to eat might as well eat a meatball. or wendy's burgers
