USDA Prime Ribeye Steak at Costco for $16.99/lb

I just picked up 2.3lbs of it for about $40. They're sold in 2-2.5lb packs.

Much cheaper than what's advertised on the website, and anywhere else on the web!

Hard to tell from the photo, but would you say that these packs are roughly alternator-sized? This is a good deal as even here in Texas we usually pay about $20/lb for choice ribeye.

That is the normal price for prime grade ribeye or strip steak at costco. I buy when its 14.99/lb. Their prime sirloin for 6.99/lb is a decent every-day steak.

Wtf. This is like their normal price for the past couple years. When Costco first started carrying USDA Prime steaks, they sometimes sold it for low as $7/lb for Prime ribeye. Now that was a deal.

Costco online prices are higher because of shipping costs are included.

i saw 1 prime ribeye steak at costco last week and it was ~$70-$78 i think. I didn't check how many oz it weighed, but it was just 1 steak

I guess I'm on a different budget than you all. In this economy , I feel like I'm really splurging paying $4.99 lb. at my local Stater Bros. for Rib roast. I'm sure the cuts I get are nowhere near prime grade, but as an ex-meatcutter, I can't justify paying more than $5 lb. for red meat in my family meals.Maybe if I hit the lottery..... In the cut in the link; they are charging $23.99 a pound for bone as well.

im with ya. im sure $20/lb is a good price for this stuff, but i feel terrible when i have to pay over $3 a pound for ground beef! someday i do want to do a full cookout with prime meats though, just go all out for a change.

Good ground beef is $4 to $5 a lb at our Stater Bros, but a consequence of living in SoCal is that almost nobody sells aged beef due to the preference in Mexico of fresh cut aged at your house.

always wondered the how of aging beef. I like a steak now and then but slow cooked baby back ribs are my first choice for a meat.

Right now I have 2 racks of baby back ribs slow cooking in my sauce pot at 170f. Takes me about 18 hours to make them.

Get a smoker. It only takes about 5 hours and is much better.
