Use 1 SSID or 2?

Is it good practice to use 2 separate SSIDs (2.4, 5.0) or 1 SSID these days in a home network environment.

Not all my devices can see my 5.0ghz SSID. I've read if you use one, the device will automatically go to 2.4/5.0ghz as needed.

Opinions?

Have an ASUS RT3100 router.

On the devices that do no see the 5Ghz, the 2.4Ghz SSID would show and you would need to log on to the Router and put the Password.

There is No auto switch unless the Computers/Devices were already configure to log to the Wireless sources independently to both SSID.

Use 2 SSIDs. I just changed the default router config for someone else who complained of slow internet. They had just one SSID, and they were stuck on 2.4GHz instead of 5GHz. Once I changed the 5GHz SSID their performance improved dramatically.

Use separate SSID's to differentiate them. So it's easy to identify which wifi frequency the device is showing.
