Today at CES, Sony revealed PlayStation Now, an all-new games streaming service that will allow "classic" PlayStation games to be played across current-gen PlayStation hardware, as well as directly on other non-gaming platforms. PlayStation Now harnesses the power of Gaikai, the company Sony purchased for $380 million back in the summer of 2012.
The idea behind PlayStation Now is simple: you will ultimately no longer need to keep your PlayStation 3 around to experience games from that consoles. PlayStation Now will allow streaming of classics from that system to not only PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, but to televisions, tablets, and smartphones. 2014 model Sony Bravia televisions will support PlayStation Now, and PlayStation Now will ultimately scale to non-Sony devices as well.

Hopefully this is discounted for PS+ users. I'm ready to ditch the PS3 if there is a good alternative.

So...OnLive for PS? I'm confused....

Sorry but the world is not ready for all streamed games. It works fine for some things, but not everything.

Does that mean we can play 'The Last of Us' and 'Gran Turismo' on our PCs?

Eventually or perhaps at least on Steam OS. You got Origin, Steam, Uplay, so might as well add another account and client to the list of libraries to spread your games out on.
I suspect the rental fee's will be high judging from the PSN's movie rentals.
Hopefully it ties into the PSN account.

If it works out, this gen will probably be the last of the consoles as we know it.

I'd rather have them patch in PS4 support for PS3 games than whatever this thinks it is.

That is never ever going to happen. The cell on the PS3 will make sure of that. Only way you'll be playing PS3 games on a PS4 is through this new streaming service or from rereleased versions of a game.

You can already tie your PSN account to Steam, and have been able to do so since Portal 2 was released.

the PS4 does not include any PS3 hardware and is not capable of emulating the PS3, so it's streaming (games are rendered elsewhere, on PS3 hardware or whatever can run them) or the games need to be "ported" one by one I think...

being able to stream PS3 games on the PC would be a good thing, if it's cheap enough.

PSN's movie rentals aren't any higher than anywhere else - on par with my DISH PPV, Redbox streaming, Amazon, and other services. Amazon does sometimes have better prices than others, but not always. Prices are generally 3.99 to 6.99 for a movie (depends on age of movie and HD or SD).
